KIRDARC Nepal Responds to Devastating Flash Floods with Emergency Relief Support

September 3, 2026

KIRDARC Nepal has mobilized emergency humanitarian support for communities affected by the devastating flash floods that struck northern and central Nepal on 26 August 2026.

The sudden and powerful surge of floodwater affected communities in and around Timure, Rasuwagadhi and Syabrubesi in Rasuwa District before impacting areas downstream along the Trishuli River corridor. The disaster caused widespread destruction to homes, settlements, markets, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure, leaving many families in urgent need of food, safe shelter, clean water, hygiene support and other essential assistance.

As the situation continued to evolve, access to several affected areas remained challenging due to damaged infrastructure and difficult terrain. Families displaced by the disaster faced immediate humanitarian needs, while overcrowded temporary shelters and limited access to essential services created additional concerns for the health, safety and wellbeing of affected communities, particularly children and other vulnerable groups.

KIRDARC Nepal Mobilizes Emergency Support

In response to the emergency, KIRDARC Nepal Immidiatly activated and mobilized it’s  Emergency  Response Team(ERT) and resources to support flood-affected communities in coordination with the Government of Nepal, local governments, District Administration Offices and other relevant humanitarian stakeholders.

KIRDARC Nepal’s emergency response focused on addressing the immediate needs of affected families through the provision and distribution of essential relief materials.

Supporting Families During a Critical Time

In the aftermath of a disaster of this scale, affected families often face multiple challenges at the same time. Beyond the immediate loss of homes and belongings, many people require safe temporary shelter, food, clean water, sanitation facilities and essential household supplies to begin stabilizing their daily lives.

KIRDARC Nepal’s response aims to address these immediate humanitarian priorities while supporting the broader government-led emergency response. The organization remains committed to ensuring that assistance reaches communities with dignity, transparency and accountability.

Working Together for Affected Communities

The scale of the disaster highlights the importance of coordinated humanitarian action. KIRDARC Nepal stands in solidarity with the flood-affected communities of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading and continues to support emergency response efforts in close coordination with relevant government authorities and humanitarian partners.
