Project Background:

Kalikot is a remote district of Nepal. It is excluded from the mainstream development  of Nepal with low Human Development Index .Natural disasters have made the condition of the district even worse.The district has been facing  different hazards such as drought, storm, lightening, land slide, snow fall, rainfall, conflict and abduction . Mainly, schools have been facing challenges on school safety and disaster. 

Promoting and strengthening school safety in Nepal through operationalizing the comprehensive school safety framework (CSSF) is the new program running in KIRDARC Nepal Kalikot with the partnership of DIPECHO-VIII, Save the Children. This program is focusing mainly to raise awareness and knowledge about disaster and school safety to mostly lower secondary, secondary and partially to primary level children of school. The main aim of the project  is to address on the component including school safety planning, multi hazard risk assessment and resilience education with the joint work under the leadership of government education authorities. Along with these the issues will address working with teachers, community members, SMC and children at local level. Program has been implementing in total of 5 VDC Lalu, Rupsa, Malkot, Mehalmudi, and Raku in 10 schools of Kalikot district. It is a short term project which started from December 2015 and will end at November 2016.
