Project Background:
The SSH4A programme assists and strengthens the capacities and performance of local governments, NGOs, the local private sector and other stakeholders to improve access to, and quality of, rural sanitation and hygiene in a sustainable manner and at scale in 5 districts of Karnali Zone namely Kalikot, Jumla, Dolpa, Humla and Mugu since 2014 as the Second phase program with the financial support of SNV and KIRDARC Nepal as LCB.
It aims to contribute to giving 66 thousands one hundred and sixty five people access to improved hygiene and sanitation facilities by the end of 2017 in five district of Karnali.

Specific Outputs
DFID:
- 21 VDC will be declared as ODF
- At least 30 CLTS facilitators will be trained in 2 districts
- 2 District sanitation strategic plans reviewed/developed
- Basic sanitation access by more than 20000 thousand people in 2 districts
- At least more than 5 thousand people have out reached in BCC and improved sanitation
- Increased capacity of LCBs
DFAT:
- At least one district will declared as ODF
- Promote private sector involvement in sanitation supply chain in 3 district
- Improved sanitation access by the people of 15 VDC
- BCCs strategy plan reviewed/developed in 3 districts.
- Total sanitation strategy plan of at least 2 district is developed/reviewed
- At least 15 school wash improvement plans are formulated and integrated in to SSIP in working VDCs.
- At Least 9 local resource person are developed/trained on sanitation promotion in working VDCs
- Joint action plan of multi-stakeholder in 3 district for wash
