KIRDARC Nepal celebrated the Menstrual Hygiene Day at Surkhet, Kapilvastu, Jumla, Kalikot and Bajura district on 28 th May 2018 to promote dignified menstruation and engage stakeholders to eliminate the bad practice related to menstruation. Different kinds of program were organized in different districts to sensitize the local community, government authorities and civil society organizations. Likewise, KIRDARC participated on National level event organized by Government of Nepal. Stall was set up to demonstrate the activities and initiatives on MHM. KIRDARC has been promoting Menstrual Hygiene Management by empowering women and girls in different districts.
KIRDARC, Kapilvastu facilitated the adolescents of Samvad Kendra, community, CBOs, child clubs, youth clubs, human right groups, networks, government authorities and civil societies to conduct orientation, interaction and cultural programme in Kapilvastu and Maharajgunj Municipality with the slogan of “Education about menstruation changes everything” where more than 300 people with local government and non government representatives participated. The local government authorities and elected representatives committed to eliminate chhaupadi practices in their areas.

Similarly, Drawing competition, Songs and Dance performance was organized on school of Jamohara. In addition, orientation sessions were also conducted for traditional healers, women groups, and human right groups. They were aware on menstruation process and committed to fight against mal practices.
With the slogan “No more limits; empowering women and girls “ Jumla also celebrated MHM day organizing different activities such as speech competition , Local Deuda dance and street drama to aware the women, adolescent girls on MHM and human rights.
Rally was organized at Martadi, Bajura with wider participation of different stakeholders, school students, Women Groups with different awareness raising play cards and banner. The rally was converted into mass gathering and different stakeholders addressed the gathering and expressed their commitment to support on the campaign.

Interaction program was organized on “Radio Naya Karnali 102.8 MHz Kalikot on MHM day. Mr. Ram Kumar Safi, Chief of WSSSDO, Mrs. Menuka Sajyal, MHM focal person of District Health Office, Mrs. Danta Nepali, Vice Mayor of Tilagupha Municipality share their views on the radio program. Huge mass was aware and sensitize through the radio program. Similarly, rally was organized at Manma, Around 200 participants participated in the rally. “Menstruation is matter of proud we need to raise voice against the discrimination and I m committed to eradicate Chhaupadi practice in my tenure”.
