WASH Campaign Kicked off in Jumla


Series of water sanitation and hygiene awareness campaign was organized in Jumla. Community people, students and different stakeholders were actively participated in the campaign. The campaign was led by child club and women groups from Hima Rural Municiaplity and Chandannath Municipality and facilitated by Kalika Aadharbhut School, Dewargaun, Netra Jyoti Secondary School, Odhi, Janata Technical School Mahatgaun and KIRDARC-Nepal. Around 1000 people were participated in the campaign.

The total sanitation campaign created opportunity to understand about sanitation and hygiene promotion and helped to increase their level of knowledge on sanitation and hygiene 
and its importance & effects of unsafe drinking water

During the campaign, waste collection, demonstration of handwashing practice was conducted.  Large number of people are benefitted from the campaign. Soaps have also been distributed to the schools where the campaign was conducted. Larger section of the community are being affected from the water borne diseases in those communities due to lack of clean drinking water, proper sanitation facilities ,lack of proper knowledge on sanitation and hygiene. The sanitation status of these communities is very poor. With the support of Sustaining Improved WASH Service for all Project, KIRDARC Nepal is raising awareness organizing different campaigns and constructing water schemes and is also constructing Child Gender and Disable friendly latrine.
