KIRDARC Nepal celebrated its 18 th establish day on 21 st June 2017 with a slogan Reaching the Unreached: A Journey of 18 Years at International Club, Sanepa- Lalitpur. There was wider participation of different stakeholders, partners, donors, members of legislative parliament and media persons. Mr, Min Bahadur Shahi, Executive Director of KIRDARC Nepal delivered a brief presentation on 18 years journey of KIRDARC. Mr. Prem Bahadur Singh, Ms. Rita Shahi Member of Legislative Parliament and Mr. Ratna Bahadur Shahi, Treasurer and Mr. Rana Lal Kulal, Chairperson KIRDARC jointly cut the cake and formally inaugurated the program. Different stakeholders conveyed the best wishes for future endeavor of the KIRDARC to work on behalf of marginalized communities to protect and promote their rights.
The major attraction of the day was the photo exhibition. The photo exhibition portrayed the journey of KIRDARC from the construction of Karnali Highway to the recent work after the devastating earthquake. It demonstrated the stories of hardships and challenges the people are facing and KIRDARC’s intervention to bring the change on their life.
On behalf of NGO Federation, Mr. Gopal Lamsal, Chairperson, NGO Federation congratulated KIRDARC Nepal for contributing on social, economic and political development of Karnali’s people since its establishment and expressed the solidarity to ensure fundamental rights of the marginalized communities. Mr. Bed Prasad Bhattarai, Secretary, National Human Right Commission expressed his happiness on KIRDARC’s contribution on protecting and promoting the human rights situation through advocacy and campaign programs even at the period of conflict and He said that National Human Right Commission is always there to support KIRDARC Nepal. Ms. Rita Shahi, Member of legislative Parliament showed her appreciation to KIRDARC for raising the issue of Mountain people and expressed her commitment to raise her voice in the parliament committee for development of Mountain Region. Mr. Prem Bahadur Singh, Member of Legislative Parliament thanked KIRDARC for its revolutionary work since construction of Karnali Highway to period of conflict and expressed his commitment to support KIRDARC in its intervention.
Mr. Rana Lal Kulal, Chairperson of KIRDARC on his closing remarks urged all the stakeholders for their supportive hands to enhance meaningful and value based relationship and expressed his gratitude for the support of all without which the journey would not have been successful.
